I live by the notion writer Luis Alberto Urrea once expressed: "Sometimes the world is so dark and bloody you have to be brave enough to broadcast innocent joy. Dare to be naive." I want each day to be paused on something worthwhile, whether looking up at a changing sky, falling in love with a new song, feeding critters in the backyard, hiking new trails, or best of all letting my characters speak and act as they will. I'm a mom of grown daughters, a wife of a retired husband, a sister, a friend, a dog lover without a dog.

I write and have published speculative and literary fiction, and read the same, and I've been a copy editor for various textbook and law book publishers for the past twenty-five years.
